I’m a big fan of cat beds made from natural materials, and Meowfia’s felted wool cat caves are incredibly well made. Allegra is not much of a cave girl, but Ruby loved her cave and used it almost every day.
Each cave is handmade from 100% Merino wool, a soft, lightweight natural fiber. Most people think of these cat caves as a cozy winter hideaway, but they actually adjust to the ambient temperature, since Merino wool is breathable. They keep your cat warm in the winter or cool in warmer weather. Ruby frequently spent at least part of her day in (or sometimes on, she likes to squish it into a flat bed occasionally) our Meowfia cave, even when it was sitting in a sun puddle on a hot day. The beds are eco-friendly: they contain no plastic or other man-made materials. Merino wool naturally repels odor, dirt and stains. The caves can be hand washed in cold water with a mild detergent designed for wool, and should be air dried. Machine washing is not recommended.
The cat caves are made by Meowfia’s manufacturing partner in Nepal, which helps sustain the families of the workers. The whole structure is molded from a single piece of felted yarn fabric using only soap, water and pressure, so there are no seams. Each bed is unique.
