Who doesn’t love a cool tech tool, especially one that helps you get your beloved lost pet back? And we certainly love this one.
National nonprofit Petco Love (formerly the Petco Foundation) has come out with a new searchable database that actually uses facial recognition technology to reunite families with lost pets. Approximately 1,000 city and rural animal shelters and rescues throughout the country will use this platform.
Anyone who loses or finds a pet can register, upload photos or search the database. Uploaded photos are automatically scanned and compared to pets within the database. It takes less than a minute to complete the search.
The website also offers helpful resources and tips for lost and found pets. Petco Love Lost hasn’t just rested with its launch, as it plans to continue to enhance and fine tune.
