Mews and Nips: Cat Café Lviv Stays Open to Care for 20 Cats During the War

Good To Know

We’ve all seen the heart-wrenching images of Ukranians fleeing with their cats or taking shelter in underground train stations. I don’t know about you, but they make me cry every single time I see them come across my social media feed. I simply can’t wrap my mind around  what these people are going through. And yet, in the middle of all this chaos, the Cat Café Lviv remains open. “Our cats have been living in [the] cat café since the age of four months,” owner Serhii Oliinyk told Modern Met. “They are like family. We realized that we would never leave our country, that this was the only place where we could see ourselves in the future.” For more about this courageous man and his cat café, visit Modern Met. You can also find regular updates on Cat Café Lviv’s Facebook page, including information on how to help them.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we explained the four stages of chronic kidney disease, on Tuesday, we celebrated our 13th anniversary, on Wednesday, we offered tips on how to choose an animal charity, on Thursday, we featured a cute and functional sunflower scratching post, and on Friday, I shared a memory of Ruby sleeping under the covers. And don’t forget to enter our anniversary giveaway to win an amazing prize package from Sleepypod!

Today’s video is an accurate representation of how I fold a fitted sheet – enjoy!
